Shaun McNiff, the Founder of the Institute for the Arts & Human Development, author and a pioneer in the field of Expressive Arts, stated during a panel discussion in Boone, NC; "...when the art becomes nailed to the artist instead of being considered a message to all coming through the artist, that is Image Abuse." Additionally, he went on to say that even the most difficult or disturbing images do not come to hurt us. They come loaded with energy to heal us. It is not our business to analyze them or to question their value or validity, just as we do not ask a friend who knocks on our door; "What do you mean?". We invite them in, extend our hospitality to them and encourage them to share their story with us.

My intention for this blog is to share my journey with Expressive Arts, along with images and stories from anyone who is willing, curious, open, and ready to embark on their own inner journey with me.
